Ah yes the joys of living in a rural area: snow, wind, & major snow drifts. We've been stuck out here for two days, funny how when you don't want to go anywhere it's no big dealio. When you can't go anywhere it rather sucks. But so does spending an hour and a half trying to get out of a drift and turned around, than waiting for the neighbor to get there and plow you out.

I did get to try out the new kitchen aid mixer.
All that damn snow is pretty much gone. Almost two feet for us, some neighbors had three feet. Couldn't go to work on Sunday, no pizza night for me, heehee, I was all snowed in. Which meant a three day weekend too, bonus score!

But it's warmed up again and all the snow has melted which means a ton of mud. I ordered my new cleats so I can run this winter. I am thinking of doing a half marathon in the spring, there is one in Portland that is at a good time and looks fun. Most importantly, I want to visit there again and go to Nordstroms. There is one in the fall in Spokane that looks nice too and there is a Nordstroms. Yes, I am picking races by how close to a Nordies they are.

Brunch re-starts this week, next week. I have no freaking idea, when it starts. But we get an afternoon tutorial w/ our old Pastry Chef on Saturday, lot's of talking will happen that day, she's a talker. Big D. is going to do the brunch baking duties on Sunday, which keeps me on Pizza Night to make sure it goes well, since Bossy B. will be there for brunch.

It's such a busy time at work, so much to do and so little time to do it all in and than next thing you know fall is almost here again.

I do love the colors in late summer, early fall. The grasses are mature and gone to seed and are golden. Gold and green are the predominate colors, it all glows in the sunlight. There is hay in the fields and that too goes from green to gold as it dries in huge round bales. The nights are cool almost cold at times and the days start to get shorter and less hot. Soon the trees will start to change color and the first snow will be here and summer will be over again, fall will be here bringing with a whole new set of color.

Why are cookie cutters so expensive? I've been looking on line seeing if there are any better deals than the local place in Bozeman so far there are not. I want a double heart for Valentines day to make cakes for two w/. Yes I am already thinking about what to bake for that day.

It's funny that all of a sudden I realized I am content at the moment w/ my odd little life here.

So anyways, not sure how many out there that read are rapid cookbook collectors such as my self. Cookbooks I can read tend to be my favorites, nothing like spending an hour or two reading a cookbook. But anyways I'm always looking for another terrific cookbook that I can love. If you so desire post your fav cookbooks.

Mine are right now:
1. How to be a Domestic Goddess by Nigella Lawson. EVerything I make out of this is superb.
2. Please to the Table. Anya Bremien (?) I bought my russian cookbook at Sam Weller's in Salt Lake I love it so, great recipes from the whole of the country and commentary.
3. New Food of Life. Najmeih Batmanglij. Persian cooking at it's best. Stories, cultural info, and gorgeous pictures
4. Fanny Farmer. This is my go to book. Need to know how to can for the first time Fanny is your gal.
5. Joy of Cooking. The old one Mom has suck, the revamped revised editions rock.
6. Feast. Nigella Lawson. This is a newly acquired favorite. The chocolate Guinness Cake is to die for.
7.The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook: New Classics. Another new fav. So much I want to try and the pumpkin bread puddings are so cute.
8. Delicious, Donna Hay, & Savuer. Are not cookbooks (magazines) but I love all three for different reason. the first two are Australian and pricey but I buy them every chance I get.
9. My own collection of favorites. I have two of them now. *giggles*
10. Mom's collection. Tried and true along w/ all the old family recipes. Great Grandma Van's bread is to die for, a very comforting white sandwich loaf.

Currently I am eating pistachios and drinking a coke waiting a wee bit more until I cook dinner.
